Professor Lo is the Director of the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He discovered the presence of cell-free fetal DNA in maternal plasma in 1997. He has pioneered a number of key technologies for noninvasive prenatal testing and cancer liquid biopsies. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of Sciences and won the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences (2021).
